Saturday, 30 Jan., was the occasion for an outpouring of the latent talent in our young daughters and sons at the Sir Cecil Jacobs Auditorium (ECCB). The Youth Outreach Dance Ministry (YODM) showcased its seventh annual dance recital for the benefit of proud parents and interested members of the public. The dances, set to popular gospel tunes, enthralled the audience and engaged the young dancers in displaying their acrobatic skills and intricate dance movements. The programme was set out in five different sections, beginning with the peace prayer, the first dance of which gripped the attention of the audience who were enthused right down to the end of the programme. The other sections entitled, our wish, candlelight, prayer and praise and worship, flowed largely according to the programme interlaced with renditions from the Risings Sons Choir, and highly entertaining interjections of the master of ceremonies, Krystus Wallace. Particularly appealing to many were the dance interpretation of the song, Go light your world, and the dynamic and energetic dance responses to the gospel rhythms of the praise and worship finale. Kudos go to Andrea Caines for her choreography and her ability to bring out the best in the scores of young people whose lives she has touched. Not only does the Youth Outreach Dance Ministry provide positive choices for its young members, but their performances provided a rich spiritual experience to the parents, relatives, and well-wishers who attended. Caines would like to thank all who have made this recital a success, namely Sir Cuthbert Sebastian, St. Kitts Credit Union, St. Kitts/Nevis National Bank, Island Bakeries Ltd, Nesry Enterprises, Clifford Thomas, Rams, and C & C Superfood. The programme was so well received that requests have been pouring in for another presentation. The date for this will be announced shortly. |
