Elected representative for Constituency #5, Shawn Richards, has been court actioned he told Sun St. Kitts/Nevis last Friday.

According to Richards, his contender in the recently held elections, Dr. Norgen Wilson, is challenging his eligibility for Parliament, claiming that "I am a US citizen."

This came just days after Wilson told the SUN he was not "bitter about not obtaining the seat."

"People may see it that I lost the seat in Sandy Point. I wouldn’t say I lost it. I would say it stayed with the incumbent," He told SUN last Tuesday.

Richards, last year in late June, announced at a press conference that he had denounced his citizenship.

Elected representative for Constituency #5, Shawn Richards.Richards said, "We have now finally put this issue to rest as we believe in country above self and therefore, we have done what was required of us," adding that he had no regrets in his decision to denounce his dual citizenship.

In mid-January on nomination day, Prime Minister Dr. Denzil L. Douglas accused Richards of still having allegiance to the United States. Richards, however, challenged PM Douglas to take him to court.

He told the SUN, "If he (Douglas) wants to challenge me as to whether or not I am eligible to be a candidate on behalf of the PAM, let him take me to court; once more he will lose and have to pay cost.

"(They have) challenged t several times before and they have had to pay cost and if it is they want to pay cost once more, challenge my nomination before the court."

Richards recently retained his seat in the 25 Jan., general elections beating Labour candidate and first timer, Wilson.

This, however, according to Wilson, was as a result of "intimidation" which resulted in a number of Labour Party supporters not voting.
